The government has released a ‘full version’ of the Citizen app. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday unveiled the Citizen App on the occasion of Information and Communication Technology Day.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung had unveiled its beta version on January 20. In the beta version alone, the app has been downloaded by more than 525,000 people and more than 191,000 users have been registered, according to the ministry. Three thousand have received police clearance reports from the Citizen app, while the number of those taking PAN numbers is more than 10,000, according to the ministry.
According to the concept of building a digital Nepal, various public and government services have been available online recently. The government has stated that it has brought citizen app to provide integrated service as it is cumbersome to use separate websites and apps. It contains certified details of citizenship such as citizenship, passport and voter identity card.
It also has the facility to view your details in Citizens Investment Fund, Employees Provident Fund and Social Security Fund. There is also a Hello Government facility run by the government to listen to the grievances of the people.
Educational details of SLC and PL-Satu level will also be in the app. Recently, the facility of viewing health insurance information has also been added to it.
Since the beta version of the Citizen app has been made public, there is a facility to get a permanent account number and it has also started giving police clearance report.
Users can link to their Citizen app by verifying email. Number app accounts of Nepal Telecom, Ncell and Smart Cell can be opened. However, the mobile number must be in your own name.
If citizenship is not found or an error is found while opening the account, the app can be requested for its solution. It has been claimed that if any error is found in the voter identity card, passport, PAN and educational details, the facility to correct it will be added.
The government claims that the revenue and renewal fee of vehicles can now be paid from the citizen app. The ministry has also stated that one can view, print and pay revenue online through the app.
The status of your land in land reform will be known, the service has been claimed by the app to get recommendations from the local level and pay taxes.
There is a QR code that can verify citizen identity from the app. With the help of which the service facility of opening a bank account has been provided through the app. Now, it will be used for filling up public service forms, purchasing SIM cards, government and public services, the ministry said.
