The French capital, Paris, is world-renowned for its beauty. Millions of people from around the world visit Paris every year. But there is also a place in beautiful Paris that is the most frightening and painful.
The name of the place is Catacombs of Paris. It is a terrifying tunnel containing the skeletons of six million people.
The tunnel was dug in the 13th century. During the construction of the city of Paris, the tunnel was built to store the necessary building materials such as stone, marble, etc.
Famine, famine, and plague killed millions in France in the 17th century. The situation was so terrible that all the graves in Paris were filled with the bodies of the dead. There was a lack of space to bury the bodies. In 1780, the French government finally decided to use the tunnel to manage the corpse.
Even the bodies were removed from the graves and buried in the tunnel. It took two years to exhume the body in the tunnel.
Later, the bodies of those who lost their lives in the French Revolution were also buried in the same tunnel. Thus, the bodies of more than 6 million people were kept there.
The site, which housed the bodies of millions of people, was soon renamed the Catacomb of Paris by France and turned into a museum.
Even though the place is very scary now, it is becoming a center of attraction for people. Millions of people flock to the cave every year to see the human skeletons adorned inside the tunnel.
This cave is 2 kilometers long. Initially, you have to go down 130 steps to enter the tunnel from the ground, but after walking for about 45 minutes, you can climb 83 steps and get out again.
